Lahore Campus
Quaid-e-Azam Law College (QLC) in Lahore was established in 1987. It was the first Law College in the private sector of Punjab. Chadhary Muhammad Saleem (Founder) and Ch. Muhammad Younus (Chairman) commenced academic and administrative responsibilities. Barrister A. G. Chaudary was appointed as the first Principal on September 1st, 1987.
An initiative was taken to set up evening classes to provide legal education to executives. Syed Muhammad Shah (an alumnus) was awarded a gold medal in English Jurisprudence by the then President of Pakistan, Ghulam Ishaq Khan. Mr. NAFEER A. MALIK (Advocate Supreme Court of Pakistan) was appointed as Principal. That was a crucial time when senior members of the Bar and Bench apprehended that the quality of legal education in private law colleges is second-rate, and steps should be taken to restrict the mushroom growth of private colleges.
The challenge of providing legal education on International standards was undertaken by Principal NAFEER A. MALIK, Director Ch. Muhammad Saleem, Chairman Ch. Muhammad Younus, and senior faculty members of QLC. Comes under the management and administrative control of the Usama Education Trust.
QLC declared its mission statement, ‘Legal Education with a Difference." ‘Lady Justice’ was adopted as the official logo. Lady Justice is an allegorical personification of the moral force in judicial systems. The personification of justice balancing the scales of truth and fairness dates back to the Goddess Mat, and later Isis, of ancient Egypt. The Hellenic deities Themis and Dike were later goddesses of justice. Themis was the embodiment of divine order, law, and custom in her aspect as the personification of the divine rightness of law. However, a more direct connection is to Themis’ daughter Dike, who was portrayed carrying scales to a new purpose-built building.
